As many of you know, I recently purchased something with a 2.7t attached to it. Very few of you actually know what kind of car is attached to it, but consider this a precursor to it’s reveal. As my ownership of this car progresses, I will continue to reveal the car but for the time being this is just going to be an overview of the engine and nothing more than the engine.
Making 250 horsepower and 258 foot pounds of torque, the car is no slouch. Going from 0-60 in six seconds flat with a biturbo setup, it’s pretty capable as far as midsized luxury sedans go. In fact, out of the three Audis that I’ve owned, it’s the fastest by .4 seconds. The 2.7t engine may receive tons of criticism over its reliability, but there’s tons of people out there who love their 2.7t equipped vehicles including myself. Silent, but deadly is my favorite way of describing the power delivery of the 2.7t. Unlike the 2.0t which is equipped with one turbo, the 2.7t is incredibly refined and quiet. Even when you downshift to second and stomp on it, the engine makes a deep growl and you hear the turbos spooling up and the car just shoots forward without all the commotion. There’s close to zero turbo lag and I’ve caught the car frightening me with how quickly it can accelerate without audible feedback. One of the reasons I bought the car was to experience the power of the 2.7t engine firsthand and I must say it’s an excellent experience. Every time I punch the gas pedal to the floor, I fall in love with the car a little bit more. I’m prepared for whatever this car throws at me, but that won’t stop it from bringing a smile to my face everytime I drive it.

I’m going to be so disappointed if it’s not what I think it is. Though really, any 2.7T stuff is good to see...such a good engine.
And I used to have a key just like that on an Audi I owned...

I missed the switchblade style keys, there’s nothing like scaring old ladies by hitting a button on a small black object and having a blade come out of it.

Sounds like a 2001 Audi S4. I had one for 5 years. My first ‘real’ car...as it had A/C. The Audi dealer always said the 2.7L was one of the most complicated engines Audi ever built. I modified mine a touch when I first got it as I hated the shifter and I wanted a better exhaust for that awesome engine.

It’s an A6! you gave it away!

Unless you’re talking about a previously owned A6 that happened to have a 2.7; otherwise you gave it away.
On a side note, my principal in middle school had a Allroad 4.2 but it was totalled two years ago when some idiot in a Mustang t-boned him, so now he has a Q7 TDI.

The 2.7 is not what I’d call unreliable, they just punish poor maintenance and are hard to work on, mostly due to packaging. Needing turbos at 150k miles is not unreliable, it just sucks. Considering what they do, it’s remarkable they go that far. And you already know what to expect from it, so no surprises. As to the power, just wait until you flash it. We do Revo tunes, and it’s worth it.
sm70- why not Duesenberg?

Allroad is most famous for the 2.7t and famously unreliable, thus making it a great car for posts, just like Doug and his RR. So my guess is you got an Allroad. Of course that’s not the only car that Audi stuffed the 2.7t into, but it is the most famously unreliable, and thus most probable to generate potential stories

It’s a really fun car to drive. I love mine.
It’s also a one owner car and very well maintained.
